Supplemental Post #6 - Joyce Chun

This is pretty old news considering how fast news in the entertainment industry comes and goes, but I wanted to write about it because this bothered me so much. Early this month, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan broke millions of hearts as they revealed that they were splitting up. This famous couple had been married for almost eight years as they met on the set of "Step Up". Although they still loved and respected each other, they decided to split because life was taking them on a different path. For a couple days, most of my social media feed was filled with photos of them as people were upset at this news. I understand the amount of attention Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan received since they are elite stars, however, this news article got me. http://www.eonline.com/news/924930/channing-tatum-and-jenna-dewan-tatum-s-split-what-s-at-stake-financially
The fact that there had to be an article investigating the ins and outs of the couples' financial statuses bothered me. It almost felt like an invasion of privacy for the broken up couple who had people constantly looking for alternate reasons why they split and even exploring how they were going to split the money. There's a fine line of invasion of privacy despite people's celebrity status and this article crossed it. I understand this is what people sign up for when they become stars, but digging this deep into someone's private relationship seems excessive.
