Supplemental Post #6 - Josh Nallathambi

Kanye West has reappeared in the news recently by announcing his comeback with 2 albums coming out in June, one his 8th solo and the other a joint venture with Kid Cudi (also looking for a comeback). The startling revelation from America’s most controversial musician comes off of almost a year and a half of being off the grid after being hospitalized in late 2016 for a mental breakdown.  As any celebrity would in this day and age, he has chosen to bolster his comeback through Twitter. By tweeting. A lot. Since West reactivated his account he has tweeted 139 times since April 15, averaging about 14 tweets a day. What’s more interesting is that the majority of West’s tweets are weirdly motivational and confusingly profound messages to his audience. Take for example this snippet from Saturday:

West is primarily known for his music, but he became a household name because of the weird and edgy things he would say and do. His celebrity persona has generated just as much if not more attention from the public than his music has. It’s been too long without Kanye West in the spotlight, and it appears that we’re going to be getting a whole lot more of him in the coming months. Moving forward it’ll be interesting to see if his stint off the grid as well as his fatherhood has done anything to alter the brash, absurd, and uncompromising star that no one seems to be neutral on. Maybe motivational Kanye is a sign of a new era.

Or you know, this.
